Meet the makers, News

This lucky duo sold a $1.1million prize just last year.

Meet Gino and Jan from Woodlea Lotto & News, the husband and wife duo who will be bringing a bit of extra luck to the Woodlea Town community.

Tell us a little about yourself.
Our business experience spans over 30 years where we have owned and operated various Lottery, Newsagent & Video stores in the Western Suburbs. We have been married for over 43 years and have three beautiful adult children and one grandson.

What has your journey been with your business?
It has been our absolute pleasure in rewarding lucky winners over the years including a massive $1.1 million prize in February 2020. Since 2007 we have been back in the Lottery business where we have sold 3 individual and 3 syndicate 1st Division Prizes. We try our best to provide customers with what they need whilst having a bit of a chat or a laugh together which we thoroughly enjoy. If we didn’t love what we do, then we wouldn’t be doing this! Having been in business for so
long has also come with some unforgettable memories. We sold the first ever Keno ticket in Australia when the brand launched and it was sold to the then Victorian Government Treasurer, Mr. Robert Jolly.

What do you like doing outside of work?
When we are not working in the business, I love checking out the latest flicks and Jan loves to garden and read but both of us love nothing more than to catch up and spend time with our family.

What are you most excited about at Woodlea Town?
Watching the Aintree area grow over the last few years, we were very impressed by Woodlea Town and that this could be our last venture before retiring. When you visit Woodlea Lotto & News, you’re not just buying a lottery ticket, you’re also supporting a local family. As a family, we have lived in the area for years and love going above and beyond for our customers. It’s been wonderful getting to know our customers and sharing stories with one-another. Over the years we have made a lot of friends and it’s always heart-warming seeing them on a regular basis and are looking forward to doing the same with the Woodlea Community.

What would you do if you won $100 million dollars?
We would go on a big family getaway (to Europe delete) and make donations to various charitable organisations to support those who need it most. Located near Coles, Woodlea Lotto & News will be providing all the major draws including Tattslotto, Oz Lotto, Powerball, Set For Life and more. Also, they have a wide range of candles, aromatherapy, cards and chocolates.

Next time you’re at Woodlea Town and are feeling lucky, go in and say hello to Gino and Jan who are looking forward to meeting you all.
